The Autism Society Central Virginia (ASCV) is a local nonprofit dedicated to our mission: to create connections, empowering everyone in the Central Virginia Autism community with the resources needed to live fully. For over 40 years, the ASCV has been proud to serve as one of the region's premier sources of education, advocacy, services, and support for individuals with autism, their families, and professionals. We offer a wide variety of programs, including social and recreational activities, information & referral services, support groups, educational workshops, advocacy initiatives, and scholarships. All funds raised by the ASCV stay here in Central Virginia, directly impacting local families.

In 2021, the ASCV hosted over 355 programs, reaching approximately 5,800 members of our local community. Our monthly and bi-weekly programs include social groups for elementary schoolers, middle schoolers, high schoolers, and adults with autism; social and recreational programs co-hosted with community partners, including the Science Museum of Virginia, ComedySportz, River City Inclusive Gymnastics, and more. The ASCV served over 510 participants in support groups for caregivers-including parents, grandparents, paternal caregivers and women with autism. Through the ASCV Speaker Series and Conference Series we hosted educational workshops on critical autism related topics for self-advocates, caregivers, and community professionals . Other programs include: Summer Camps for individuals with autism across the lifespan; Autism Friendly Communities, a training program for local businesses; Information & Referral services, providing answers and connecting individuals with critical resources; and our Scholarships and Financial Aid Programs, which awarded over $17,000 in 2021 for activities, and community program scholarships.

Our goals include enhancing and expanding our current programming and growing participation to reach even more individuals with autism and their families during a time of increased need.
