Basket of Hope began in 1995 when Christina, age 7, completed a long treatment plan for cancer in her spine.  Her family worked closely with her doctors and nurses to plan visits of encouragement to future families of children diagnosed with cancer and other serious illnesses.  They decided to bring a Basket of Hope filled with items to bring comfort and cheer to the child and family. 

The program has grown to include over 50 hospitals nationwide and over 6,000 children and their parents receive a Basket of Hope and a Hope Tote each year.   The baskets are filled with toys, games, craft and education items, stuffed animals, balls, and puzzles.  The hope totes are given to the parents and include items to nourish them physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.  It's truly amazing wihen sports heroes such as NFL players and coaches and NASCAR drivers take the time to deliver the baskets to the families. 

Companies and individualls work with Basket of Hope for group basket filling events!  It's a rewarding team building event to fill the gift baskets and give hope to so many children and their families.
