St. Joseph's Women's Hospital provides many services to our community. However, we are specifically looking for donations for our High Risk OB department. Our expecting mothers on our high-risk floor are admitted for many different reasons that impact not only their health but also the health of their expected babies. Most report that these admissions are isolating, difficult, and often terrifying. Each day, they face the reality that their babies could pass in the womb and that they themselves are at a higher risk of passing at delivery due to the complications that they are facing. And while the world moves on for their loved ones, with partners, children, family members, and friends getting to leave the hospital for work, dinners, and any occasion that they desire, our mothers stay in their rooms, waiting out their time until they deliver what they hope to be a healthy baby. On a weekly basis, we provide support to our high-risk mothers through a support group. We wheel them out of their rooms for a time where they can come together, talk with other mothers experiencing the same exact thing, and provide therapeutic support - all while under the guise of a fun reprieve from their hospital rooms.
