Operated by Believe in Students, Inc., the Stony Brook University FAST Fund provides emergency financial assistance to undergraduate students in need, as federal financial aid does not cover the true cost of attendance and does not keep up with the rising cost of living. Stony Brook is one of 29 FAST fund sites across the country, and the only one in New York State. Our University serves a diverse population and over 1/3 of students are "Pell Eligible", meaning their families income is below the poverty line. We providing funding for needs such as gas and train tickets to school, food, utilities, textbooks, and so much more. The FAST Fund is run by faculty and staff volunteers through United University Professions (UUP), the faculty and staff union on campus.
