My name is Leah Ngoche and I am a board member of the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra (BYSO). BYSO is a nonprofit organization established to provide a positive and stimulating musical environment for our community’s youth, serving the eastside since 1964. In return, our youth orchestras provide outreach concerts to the community throughout the season. The influence of music on adolescent development is significant, encompassing areas such as emotional expression and regulation, fostering social connections and a sense of belonging, and promoting creativity and intellectual growth. 

We are preparing for our annual fundraising auction and looking for community businesses who’d be willing to donate items, gift cards or experiences to complete our auction baskets. Tuition only covers 65% of BYSO’s costs.  Donations and grants support the following vital programs:

  • Tuition assistance for musicians with financial need
  • Rental of rehearsal and performance space
  • Salaries of professional teaching musicians

Your donation valued at $325 will support the quarterly tuition of a student in need in Cadet Strings. Your donation valued at $1500 will support the annual tuition of a student in need in Flute Choir. Donations valued above $2000 will aid in the acquisition of new instruments.
