Organization's Mission and Purpose:
Best Buddies New Mexico is committed to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our primary purpose is to ensure that people with IDD have the chance to engage in the community, have fulfilling relationships, and experience the joys of friendship and shared experiences.
Service(s) Your Organization Provides:
Friendship Program: We match individuals with and without IDD in a one-to-one friendship basis, offering them the opportunity to develop meaningful connections with their peers.
Leadership Development: Our program empowers youth to advocate for themselves and others, building skills that lead them to become future leaders within the community and beyond.
Integrated Employment: Best Buddies New Mexico helps individuals with IDD secure and maintain jobs in their communities, fostering a more inclusive work environment.
Inclusive Living: We offer support for individuals with IDD to live independently, make decisions for themselves, and be integral members of the community.
Community Engagement: Through various events, outreach programs, and advocacy initiatives, we raise awareness about the abilities and potential of individuals with IDD, breaking down barriers and dispelling misconceptions.
