For 5 years, the Big Blue BBQ has assisted Pasco County law enforcement officers and detention deputies with emergency assistance, not covered by their insurance or other sources.  We have helped those struggling with cancer, infant loss, spousal suicide, and other unexpected events and tragedies.

Over the past four years The BBQ has raised $106,104 used to provide emergency assistance for Pasco County law enforcement and detention deputies.  Our first event was to support Detective Daniel Cobianco, who was very concerned when he received a cancer diagnosis, most concerned about the financial burden of being out of work while he was fighting the disease and the impact on his family.

For our 2nd annual BBQ, we worked to assist Detention Deputy Sean Sessa with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. Sean was always the go-to guy when there were concerns in the jail with inmates. He always wanted a career in law enforcement and to follow his father and great uncles as police officers. Sadly, Sean lost his battle in July of 2022.

Last year we were able to provide assistance for a funeral, emergency room medical bills and a tombstone for a child of an officer.  We want to continue to assist these brave men and women that are here to serve and protect us.

In addition to the stories above, Big Blue BBQ has provided funding other local officers who have had unexpected emergencies and tragedies such as brain tumors, death of children, terminal illnesses, and other tragic family emergencies.
