Since 1972, communities in Northeast Wisconsin have been enriched by Big Brothers Big Sisters' mission to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Our mentoring program matches youths aged 7-21, predominantly from low-income, single-parent households, with adult volunteer mentors. The mentor and youth typically meet 2-4 times a month for at least a year, either in the community or at a partner site, and engage in activities of their choosing (cooking, playing sports, etc.). With a mentor in their life, youth enter a pathway to build resiliency, set higher aspirations, and grow into self-sufficient adults.
