Established in Upstate New York in 1975, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks helps children in Warren, Washington and northern Saratoga counties reach their full potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships. As the nation’s largest volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 5 through 18, in our community. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

Our vision is that all youth achieve their full potential. Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. We provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Our accountability is that we partner with parents/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community for each child in our program achieving: higher aspirations, greater confidence, better relationships, educational success, and avoidance of risky behaviors. Our agency focuses on long-term mentoring and life-long results.

Our goal is to serve children with the greatest economic and academic need in the highest risk areas within our service area while not excluding any child who needs our support. We continue the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ 100+ year track record of success by providing youth with stable and lasting mentoring relationships that help them achieve their highest potential - academically, behaviorally, and socially. Our Bigs help their Littles dream, set goals, and find positive learning opportunities within difficult life issues. Together with our Littles, we clear a path to success by breaking societal barriers, closing opportunity gaps, and overcoming adversities. The impact of our program is exponential, and our Littles are the agents of transformation.
