Bellesini Academy is celebrating its 20th year of outstanding, tuition-free middle school education to boys and girls of all faiths from limited means living in Lawrence. Our philosophy is simple: education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty for children of color. And we deliver. Utilizing a twelve-hour school day and an eleven-month school year, Bellesini prepares its students for admission to college preparatory high schools with the hope that every graduate will go on to earn a four-year college degree. 98% of our students are people of color, as are 60% of our faculty and staff, reflecting the demographics of our student body and the community we serve. 100% of Bellesini students go on to attend private high schools and our graduation rate is 100%. 97% of post-secondary Bellesini alumni have gone on to attend college, with another 3% attending technical schools or serving in the military. As a tuition-free school, Bellesini relies on donations to raise the $10,000 it costs annually to educate each of our 120 students.
