The Optimist Club of Gainesville opened the first Boys Club in 1947. Over the years, we have gone through many changes, although our purpose remains the same. In 2016, we were blessed with a new state of the art facility that served 2,700 youth in 2022. Boys & Girls Club of Cooke County is a youth development facility that provides more than a safe place to go after school, but a place that secures great futures. We incorporate the young people who need us most, an outcome-driven club experience, and in doing so, we achieve priority outcomes.
Boys & Girls Club serves youth ages 6-18 throughout the year while providing youth development programs with an emphasis on out three priority outcome areas: academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character and citizenship. We have designated areas that support each priority area; STEM room with computers, art room, homework room, game room, sewing/crochet room, two youth gyms, outdoor field with a playground, and a separate wing designated for teens, now equipped with an e-sports room, game room, music room, STEM & program room and gym. Each of our areas provides a safe space for our members to learn and grow, while becoming productive, caring, responsible citizens.
