For nearly forty years, BPE has worked to drive exceptional outcomes for all students by developing great teachers and great schools. In 2003, we founded the Boston Teacher Residency (BTR), a nationally replicated teacher training program that integrates graduate coursework with hands-on teaching practice to prepare educators who are well-equipped to drive student achievement. We also created the Dudley Promise Corps in 2013, a neighborhood-based AmeriCorps program whose members serve as a pipeline into BTR and support children in our classrooms. We founded two Teaching Academies, which are public, neighborhood-based schools in the underserved Dudley neighborhood of Roxbury. We opened the Dudley Street Neighborhood Charter School (grades PreK-5) in 2012, and assumed operations of the Dearborn STEM Academy (grades 6-12) in July 2015.
