The mission of the Breakaway CDC is to evitalize communities by being a developer and manager of community-enriching properties, both commercial and residential; a partner and advocate for educational, health and physical fitness excellence; and an avenue for community engagement. BreakAway was established to serve as a catalyst to economic and community empowerment, by transforming the communities we serve.

Breakaway CDC along with The Austin Chamber of Commerce (Chicago) is excited to announce our 18th Annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting and Parade. We will continue our long-standing holiday tradition on Friday, December 2, 2022 serving Chicago's Austin Community as well as its neighboring communities. Like many other communities on the city’s South and West sides, Austin and its neighboring communities have dealt with decades of disinvestment, and it is acutely feeling the impact of gun violence. However, we are working to address some of the systemic issues the community faces, and to bring investment to the area.
