Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks (BCFO) has given help and hope to families impacted by breast cancer for more than two decades. Our organization was founded to provide nonmedical financial assistance to families in breast cancer treatment. This meant making rent or mortgage payments, car payments, providing gas gift cards, paying for utilities, and providing other basic needs. The Rosalie O'Reilly Wooten Children's Fund program provides things like school clothes, supplies, diapers, formula or other needs. Together, these programs exist so that no family has to choose between food on the table or school supplies instead of necessary breast cancer treatment.

With a desire to continue to support our survivors beyond just treatment, we added a wig program, partnering with local wig shops and another local nonprofit to provide a little extra comfort while our clients are recovering from the devastating effects of treatment. Partnerships with local health care systems helped us launch a free post-mastectomy bra and prosthetic program. Our lymphedema program grew out of the need of our clients for these expensive garments that are an absolute necessity for healing. And our free screening mammogram voucher program grew out of a recognition that too many women in our area were going without these life-savings tests because they didn't have insurance.

In the last year, we’ve reinvigorated our support group offerings so both survivors and caregivers have the resources they need. We’ve also started a program that covers the cost of diagnostic tests for uninsured or underinsured people under 35.
