Founded in 1984, Maine Coast Waldorf School serves some 260 students from early childhood through high school. Our early childhood-12th grade campus in Freeport, Maine offers our students state-of-the-art buildings, as well as acres of outdoor classrooms and woodland trails.
We foster independent thinking, creative problem solving, and a sense of connection to equip students for future challenges, while inspiring them to create their own opportunities. At Maine Coast Waldorf School, we offer an education for life.
We strive to promote social justice and is grateful for the presence and contributions of students, families, and faculty of diverse faiths, nationalities, and identities. We are committed to affirming people of all religions, spiritual values, countries of origin, immigration statuses, races, genders, abilities, identities, and sexual orientations. We endeavor to support a wide spectrum of learners whenever possible. MCWS is a multicultural, pluralistic community; we embrace diversity as a core strength of our community and seek to make our curriculum and policies as inclusive as possible. We strive to remain accessible to all families who are committed to pursuing a Waldorf education, regardless of their economic circumstances. Like most independent schools, we cannot rely solely on tuition to meet our operating budget; the cost of a Maine Coast education would be out of reach for many families if we did.
