Caldwell University, located in Caldwell, New Jersey, within Essex County, consistently recognized as the top locale to live, work and play in the state, is a distinguished four-year independent co-educational institution dedicated to promoting liberal arts and professorial studies that foster spiritual, aesthetic, and intellectual growth among a diverse student body. Since its establishment in 1939, Caldwell University has diligently served the higher education needs of Essex, Union, and surrounding counties. We offer a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs, catering to approximately 2,200 students. Our student body represents diverse social and economic backgrounds. In 2020, Caldwell was officially recognized as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education. As of Fall 2022, over 30% of our students identify as Hispanic, and we also proudly embrace a substantial population of first-generation students, with 57% of the freshman class in 2022 belonging to this category.

This year, Caldwell University has received notable recognition, including a #13 ranking by U.S. News & World Report in the Best Value School in the Regional North category and a #13 Top Performer on Social Mobility. The latter ranking is based on our commitment to enrolling and graduating economically disadvantaged students who receive Federal Pell Grants. We have a long-standing tradition of supporting students with significant unmet financial needs, as evidenced by the awarding of over $33 million in institutional grants and scholarships during the 2021-22 academic year.
