The Survivors Memorial Fund was organized in California in 1994 as a non-profit association for the purpose of relieving the economic hardship of the spouse or other close family members of any peace officer in the state of California who loses his or her life while enforcing the law, and for other similar charitable purposes.

The fund disburses immediate financial assitance to families of federal, state, and local peace officers that are killed in the line of duty protecting the citizens of California.  The disbursement is made within 24 hours notice of the death of an officer at a time when the families need it the most.

Since inception, the fund has disbursed over $879,000.00 to the families of 279 officers killed in the line of duty during their time of need.

The fund is managed by a Board of Trustees who are all volunteers. Except for the minimal administrative costs to maintain the fund, all funds raised go directly to the families of fallen officers.

Golf tournaments and other similar fundraisers are the major source of income for the fund.
