Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent's cancer by providing innovative, fun-filled programs that foster a lasting community. Kesem is the nation's largest community for children impacted by a parent's cancer - a unique population estimated to be over 5 million.

In 2000, Camp Kesem was founded at Stanford University through a joint project with Hillel by a leader who recognized the opportunity for college students to make a positive, long-term impact on children's lives through a summer camp program. Kesem's model quickly spread to other campuses and in 2003, Kesem became a branded 501(c)3 national nonprofit organization. In 2019, Kesem provided over 10,000 children with free, supportive, life-changing experiences through programs at 11 college chapters in 42 states.

While every child experiences a parent's cancer journey uniquely - regardless of if the parent passes away, survives, or is currently undergoing treatment - a child's Kesem experience, grounded in experiencing the joy of childhood, helps by providing children coping with a parent's cancer with a community of support with peers who are just like them.

Our chapter of Kesem at Chapman University is approaching our fourth year of camp. In order to achieve our goal of bringing 50 children to camp, we must raise $65,000. Our dedicated coordinator team of 16 passionate students works year-round to raise these funds.

We are currently in the process of planning our upcoming annual fundraising gala, Make the Magic, which will be taking place in March. With your support, we hope to exceed our goal of $20,000.

We are asking for your help with donating gift cards or physical items for the fundraising gala. Any donation you are able to give to our organization is greatly appreciated. Gift cards and auction items can be mailed to 1201 W Palm Ave Orange, CA 92868. Monetary donations can be mailed to 10586 West Pico Boulevard #196 Los Angeles, CA 90064 with the specification for Chapman University.
