Camp Sunshine & Camp Snowflake is a recreational day camp for disabled children and young adults.
Camp Sunshine runs 5 days a week for 9 weeks in the summer and Camp Snowflake is a Saturday only program from September to May. The programs provide the opportunity for our campers to engage in typical camp activities such as swimming, crafts, games, and trips, but with the help of one-on-one volunteers and dedicated staff. Camp is supported by private contributions only. Fees are kept to a minimum and no child is turned away for lack of payment.
Our camp is special in that we service not only children but also young adults with disabilities. Our campers know that they will not “age out” of camp and look forward to coming year after year. It also gives our volunteers experience in working with people of “different abilities” and to learn acceptance of those differences.
Camp Sunshine & Camp Snowflake's mission is to provide social and recreational opportunities to children and young adults with multiple disabilities. The Camp’s goal is to facilitate our campers’ participation in activities normally reserved for the able-bodied with the help of one-on-one volunteers and support staff.
