Canine Companions is one of the oldest and largest non-profit service dog organizations in the United States. It was founded in 1975 and provides service dogs carefully bred and expertly trained in more than 45 tasks to enhance the lives of adults, children and veterans with disabilities, completely FREE OF CHARGE. In 2023, Canine Companions placed 450 working dogs. The organization continues to support graduate dogs and their human partners for the entire career of the dog, which averages 10 years. Nearly 8,000 dogs have been placed since 1975 and Canine Companions touches additional lives through its Therapy Dog Program.
