The Carly Fetzer Queen of Hearts Foundation was created in memory of our 18 year old daughter, Carly. who passed away on April 26, 2019 from complications of a congenital heart defect called Hyperplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Carly was a beautiful soul who only saw the good in everyone she met. She was kind, courageous, loving and caring to a fault. All she ever did was make people smile. We created her Foundation so that her generous spirit will continue to help others even after she is gone. The Carly Fetzer Queen of Hearts Foundation has several objectives: 1)to provide scholarships to high school seniors continuing their education at the collegiate level pursuing careers in education and nursing as teachers and nurses had such a great impact on Carly's short life, 2)to provide meal vouchers to families whose child with a cardiac condition is experiencing an extended hospital stay at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to help alleviate in a small way the financial burden placed upon these families so that they can stay with their child 24/7 and still be able to afford to feed themselves as parents need to stay strong and healthy during this very difficult time, and 3)to contribute funding towards pediatric cardiac research specifically focusing on improved outcomes for cardiac children facing the same complications that Carly experienced.
