Cattlemen for Cancer Research (CCR) was formed in 1999 by a group of Central Texans wanting to join in the fight to end cancer, in support of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center’s mission. The funds raised by Cattlemen for Cancer Research support grant funding for scientists at the Michale E. Keeling Center for Comparative Medicine and Research, and also provide patient assistance for people from Bastrop, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Travis, and Williamson counties who are seeking treatment at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The patient assistance fund helps with the costs of lodging, meals, and similar services incurred while staying in Houston, TX to receive care.
