The Center for Puppetry Arts’ mission is to inspire imagination, education and community through the global art of puppetry.

The Center for Puppetry Arts opened in 1978 and is the nation’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to the art of puppetry. Our founder, Vincent Anthony, was joined by Jim Henson and Kermit the frog on opening day to cut the ceremonial ribbon. The Center focuses on presenting a fully rounded experience of puppetry through our three capstones of performance, education, and museum exhibition. Annually, the Center hosts more than 500 performances, leads people of all ages through educational workshops, presents rotating exhibitions centering artists and cultural histories, connects over 70,000 area students with creative education, and opens its doors to more than 200,000 visitors!
