Get On The Bus (GOTB), a program of the Center For Restorative Justice Works, is an annual program at participating California state prisons reuniting children with their incarcerated parents. During this free event, families are treated to an all-inclusive day providing meals for the whole day (including a shared lunch between child and parent!), travel items, backpacks for children, activities during the visit inside the prison, and after the visit, as well as our staple teddy bear for every child after the event. In addition to the program, GOTB serves as a community unifier, involving local leaders, schools, the formerly incarcerated, and all walks of life to support children and families during the event to remind them of the support that exists in their community. GOTB has worked to reunify children and parents for over 20 years.
