Chaparral Association of Parents and Educators for Students (CAPES) is an entirely volunteer-run foundation that aims to support the vision and goals of Chaparral Elementary in the Poway Unified School District. CAPES was formed by combining a former PTA committee and a foundation created for Chaparral Elementary, with the goal of bringing together parents and educators to ensure that the students at Chaparral Elementary receive the best educational program opportunities.

CAPES promotes open communication, volunteerism, inclusivity, and cooperation within the school community. Working with educators, parents, and students, CAPES identifies the best programs and opportunities that will benefit the entire student body. The foundation supports Chaparral Elementary by assisting with fundraising efforts and leveraging support from the community. The net proceeds are used solely at Chaparral Elementary to support various programs, including art, physical education, and science, that may not be offered otherwise.

CAPES is a nonprofit 501c3 entity that consists entirely of parents and educators who volunteer their time. The organization meets monthly to review the financial position of the foundation and discuss fundraising events and where those efforts will be utilized within the school to benefit all students. The Executive Board consists of 10 members, and Form 990s are filed annually, along with RRF-1 to the Attorney General's Registry of Charitable Trust, with applicable fees. The organization meets through Zoom or, when available, after school at Chaparral Elementary school.
