Chaptops was incorporated on June 1, 2022 for the charitable and educational purpose of promoting Computer Literacy and general education among needy students in the Republic of Guatemala. Chaptops receives used laptops from corporate donors and ships them to schools and youth development organizations in Guatemala. Recently retired laptops are latest-generation technology by Guatemalan standards.
Chaptops provides free internet access to students in the town of Tactic, Alta Verapaz at an "internet cafe". The storefront facility also offers affordable laptop rentals to students and teachers. Chaptops aspires to open a second self-supporting facility next year.
