I am writing on behalf of Charlestown Nursery School (CNS), a not-for-profit school serving over 75 families, and hundreds of educators from Boston and beyond through professional development programs. Each year we hold a fundraising auction to help close the gap between tuition and expenses. This year we will hold an auction on Saturday, April 1, 2023.  As our biggest fundraiser of the year, the auction is crucial for funding the core programs and teacher salaries of our small school that serves Charlestown and beyond.

CNS started about fifteen years ago when a handful of Charlestown parents banded together to explore creating an independent, community-based cooperative preschool. In 2007, CNS was founded as a parent/educator partnership – serving just nine students in a single class. Our unique research-based approach to early childhood education immediately attracted attention – from members of the greater community and educators alike. So, with the help of private and public grants, donated salaries, and the generosity and vision of community members and school families, CNS has grown to serve 83 students. Because we are still such a young school, we depend on fundraising to operate each year. As we have done in the past, we are reaching out to businesses we value and requesting auction donations to help us raise necessary funds. If you are able to donate, we would welcome any contribution to our annual fundraising auction this year.

Last year, we were humbled by the contributions we received, and thanks to the generosity of donors, we raised over $115,000! With this support, CNS has been able to continue to offer quality instruction in an engaging and nurturing environment. Those funds allowed us to:

·       Support teachers in cultivating an engaging curriculum that builds on children’s interests and skills

·       Create quality outdoor classrooms

·       Hire additional interns to complement the current teaching staff

·       Continue to serve as a model school for over 1,000 educators from across the world, allowing teachers and students from both public and private schools to collaborate and share innovative teaching approaches

·       Provide highly competitive salaries to attract the highest quality educators and further their growth through professional development conferences

CNS celebrates the great potential of young children, the value of professional teachers, the responsibility of service to our community, and the richness of the world beyond the classroom.  CNS has been recognized for providing comprehensive and innovative early childhood education, and with your support, we can continue to grow this model.
