The Children's Museum of Idaho is the first, and only, 501(c)3 children's museum in the State of Idaho. The museum has become a community anchor for the 100,000 children under the age of ten in the Boise/Meridian/Nampa metropolitan area. In Idaho, young children are an underserved population and statistics support that the lack of investment in early childhood education has led to Idaho being among the last in the nation for school preparedness for our young children.

During a visit to the museum, hands-on, interactive exhibits and programming create an environment that employs play as a gateway to discovery and learning. Play is an integral part of childhood that is essential to the cognitive, physical, social and emotional well-being of the child and offers parents and other adult caregivers, the opportunity to fully engage with the child. Through self-directed play scenarios, important skills such as problem solving, collaboration, and curiosity foster a life-long love of learning.

The mission of the Children's Museum of Idaho is to bring children, families and the community together to engage in learning through purposeful play.  The Boise/Meridian/Nampa area is among the fastest growing in the U.S. yet there are few noncommercial educational opportunities available for our young learners. Our facility offers a safe, climate-controlled environment where children and adults are welcome and encouraged to learn together.
