Christ Kitchen combines business and philanthropy to break the cycle of poverty for women and the children who rely on them for survival. Our vision is a community where no woman lives in poverty due to lack of skills, abusive relationships, or reliance on government or unhealthy substances. Women walk into Christ Kitchen disenfranchised, impoverished and hopeless; they walk out empowered, employable and hopeful.

Our job training and employment fosters character and leadership development, reduces the load on our foster care and welfare systems, and increases the economic base of our region. The women we hire and train are currently living at or below the poverty level. Many have children, who may or may not be living with them. They face employment barriers and life challenges, such as lack of job experience, reentry into society after incarceration, prostitution, human trafficking, physical and mental abuse, and addiction. Through the production and sale of dried food products, catering, a food truck, cafe and coffee house, Christ Kitchen offers women nine job training matrices, so that they can become employable in a position that provides a living wage and benefits. Upon completion of one or more of the training matrices, a woman is coached through the nationally recognized Jobs for Life curriculum, after which she graduates from Christ Kitchen and begins the next step of her journey, whether that is full-time employment or higher education.

Our success rate is 96 percent! Since we began measuring outcomes in 2015, we have graduated nearly 120 women into stable employment or higher education. They are healthcare workers, caregivers, managers, caterers, and baristas. They are homeowners, volunteers, and students who now have dreams, and are making those dreams come true. We partner with local employers and small-business owners who hire our women after graduation.
