Christopher House is a family of schools that helps low-income, at-risk families succeed in school, the workplace, and life. Through our unique and innovative approach, Christopher House effectively works to close the opportunity gap through a continuum of high-quality, personalized education with immersive family support, starting at birth.

Christopher House was founded in 1906 during the settlement house movement to support immigrants transitioning to life in America. Since then, the agency has continually evolved to best meet the needs of the community. Christopher House was one of Chicago’s first Head Start providers in the 1960s, piloted teen parent programs in the 1980s, and today, operates a family of schools – including an Infant & Pre-School, Elementary & Middle School, After School & Parent School – in Chicago’s Belmont Cragin, Logan Square, and Uptown neighborhoods.
