The original Foundation was formed in 1983 to contribute to the support and maintenance of St. Michael Hospital. A new Foundation was organized in 2014. Currently, the mission of CHRISTUS St. Michael Foundation is to promote philanthropy and charitable giving to provide resources to enhance the ability to assist CHRISTUS Health Ark-La-Tex in Texarkana, Texas, achieve its mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by meeting healthy community needs.
The Foundation Board is composed of 18 Directors. The Executive Committee, with of seven (7) Directors, is comprised of the Foundation Chairperson, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and a Director, and the President and CEO of CHRISTUS Health Ark-La-Tex and the President/Executive Director. The Nominating Committee is a standing committee.
The Friends of the Foundation, formed in 1989, serves as a committee for support, volunteer programs, fundraising and other services on behalf of the Foundation and CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System. It promotes and encourages interest throughout the Ark-La-Tex.
The Foundation programs include the components of annual giving, memorial donations, major gifts, capital campaigns, special events and all other fundraising initiatives.
