Church Under the Bridge is San Antonio’s church for the homeless. Our journey began many years ago under the overpasses in the downtown area. In 2011, God blessed us with an incredible church, allowing us to carry out the command He gave our Senior Pastor Dennis Cawthon to “feed His people spiritually and physically.” We reach out with the love of Jesus, giving Hope through preaching, singing, and teaching the Word of God and offering training, free meals, and free clothing/hygiene items to satisfy the Spiritual and physical needs of the congregation. We are the perfect mission outreach for churches in Texas and offer a place for individuals and groups to sing, serve, and provide for those who are less fortunate.

Our doors are open five to six nights a week. After church services three nights a week, we feed attendees a balanced meal and provide clean clothing and hygiene products as needed. The other nights are devoted to educational and skill development programs.

We offer opportunities to develop commitment and a sense of responsibility for "their church" through a myriad of volunteer positions and recognize their efforts monthly at an awards ceremony. The homeless serve in our music program, clothing management and issue, security of facilities, storage maintenance, and cleaning.

We serve between 500-700 homeless individuals and families (and at-risk individuals and families in the local area) each week. We issue free clothing/hygiene items to nearly 400 per week. All of the items in our program, including 90% of the meals we provide, are donated. Most churches rely on income from their congregations; being homeless, our congregation has limited resources, which in turn limits ours so we depend on donations to support all regular and special programs.
