Serving Collin and Dallas County and the majority of North Texas, the mission of City House is to provide emergency shelter, transitional residential living, and street outreach programs and services to at risk children, youth and young adults (newborn to 24 years) who are in need due to abuse, neglect, or homelessness. Our vision is for every child and young adult to live a safe, healthy, and renewed life while coping with traumatic curcumstances.

Founded in 1988 by PISD school counselor Nancy Boyd, and educator Kay Goodman, what began as a 6 bed teen shelter has grown into a 48 bed multi-faceted agency that includes a children's emergency shelter, three transitional living homes, free individual and family counseling services, street outreach, and a Youth Resource and Community Outreach Center.

In 2021, City House provided direct services to more than 900 children and young adults.  This includes 1,494 hours of counseling, assisting 49 clients through the Transitional Living Program, keeping 101 clients safe in the emergency shelter, and providing 757 street survival kits.
