The Mission Statement for the Coachella Valley Historical Society, Inc. is to preserve, interpret, and share the artifacts that create a dialogue about the evolving history of the Coachella Valley.

The Coachella Valley History Museum is the best way to learn about the history of our beautiful valley. With our rich collection of exhibits, you can learn all about the people, places, and times that have made the Coachella Valley the epicenter of so much in Southern California history, resulting in a rich, entertaining, and educational museum experience for adults and kids alike.

To achieve this purpose, Coachella Valley History Museum maintains exhibitions/education programs including but not limited to School Tours for 3rd Graders during the school years, Museum collection, archives, the 1909 Schoolhouse, 1926 Adobe Smiley Tyler house, the date museum and the future expansion opportunities of CVHM.

Third grade classes around the valley are invited to visit our grounds and take a tour of the Museum led by one of our knowledgeable and kid-friendly School Tour Docents and visit the Blacksmith Shop, the Desert Submarine, and take a lesson in the 1909 Schoolhouse.  Our Museum also assist some of schools with payment of their bus transportation.

We also have an EXPLORE Junior Historians which is a dynamic after-school program for children ages 8 to 14 years old that includes hands-on activities and enriching projects in a safe and encouraging environment. During each Fall, Winter, and Spring Session, students focus on a unique topic about the Coachella Valley.

In June of each year we have an EXPLORE Young at Arts Program where children 8 to 14 years are able to experience different types of art.  This past June, there were 4 sessions which included clay, mask making, basic drawing, watercolor and multi media art.
