Coast Kids is the only Coastal Kids Home Care is California’s only non-profit pediatric home health agency serving children in Monterey, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, and San Benito Counties. For the last 18 years, we have improved the quality of life for children coping with injury, short-term illness, chronic conditions, developmental delays, and those facing end-of-life. We offer home-based pediatric palliative care, in-home shift nursing, pediatric home health care, and counseling. Home-based pediatric palliative care consists of children with serious or life-limiting illnesses who qualify for specialized medical care and family support services in the comfort of home. Palliative care provides relief from pain and symptoms for pediatric patients while assisting parents to address the emotional impacts of caring for a child with complex health needs. The goal is to improve the quality of life for the whole family. Our in-home shift nursing provides care to children with complex medical needs that can be strenuous and time-consuming. For many families, balancing the high demands of caring for their child, with work, and the needs of their other family members can become overwhelming. Coastal Kids Home Care shift nurses are available to help by offering in-home RN, LVN or CNA level care in shifts of 3-8 hours. Pediatric home health care focuses on children remaining at home. Children (ages 0-21) with medical needs requiring nursing or therapy services may benefit from home healthcare. With a referral and physician's order, our pediatric nurses travel directly to your home to offer skilled services including blood draws, infusions, wound care, and medication administration. Physical and Occupational Therapy supports children to develop the strength and coordination to handle daily tasks independently. Lastly, our counseling service coordinates closely with physicians, parents and children to develop individualized goals of care. Together we identify the type of therapy most appropriate for your child’s situation and work in partnership with you to respond to their needs. Our counseling team believes that mental health plays a critical role in the overall well-being of children.
