Safe Kids Cobb County
History
Safe Kids Cobb County was created in 1991 and continues to be led by Cobb & Douglas Public Health. Since then, the coalition has grown to include representatives from community, government, non-profit, and for- profit organizations.
The Problem: Accidental Childhood Injury
Preventable injuries are the number one cause of death among children in the United States. Each year one out of every four children needs medical attention for an accidental injury, and more than 90 percent of accidental injuries are preventable. Although Safe Kids Cobb County has been recognized by Safe Kids Worldwide for their positive results in reducing accidental childhood injuries, there is still important work to do.
Our Mission
To reduce the number of accidental injuries to children ages 14 and under through:
• Community Partnerships
• Advocacy & Public Awareness
• Distribution of Safety Equipment
• Education of Proper Use of Safety Equipment

Cobb County Safety Village
History
The Cobb County Safety Village Foundation, started in 2007, is a non-profit 501(c)3 agency serving all of Cobb County, GA, and surrounding areas with an interactive safety facility. Cobb County Safety Village, built on an 8-acre site, is one of the most comprehensive safety training environments in the region. The Village is comprised of reduced-scale buildings, many with interactive safety experiences inside. The life-size streets include sidewalks, traffic signals and a variety of structures that represent our community. These structures are an integral part of the learning experience. The Cobb County Safety Village Foundation believes that education is the key to reducing risk and protecting our community. By reaching out to all residents, we can teach important safety techniques, provide guidance on crime prevention and most importantly, involve them in a hands-on learning experience.
Our Mission
Our philosophy is simple:
Tell me and I will forget;
Show me and I may remember;
Involve me and I will learn for a lifetime.
The Safety Village mission is to provide the highest quality safety education and training available. This effort will enable our citizens to help and protect themselves and others from accidental death, injury and destruction of property. The Safety Village Foundation mission is to serve as an advocate, develop partnerships and secure resources in support of the Cobb County Safety Village. The vision is a sustainable Cobb County Safety Village that builds a safer community through advocacy and education.
