Colonie Senior Service Centers, Inc. is an independent, community-based not-for-profit that supports, respects, and embraces the values and vitality of its senior citizens. For over forty-two years, CSSC has been about people, families, and community—committed to providing the services and resources that seniors need to stay active and independent. Today CSSC is the largest provider of services for seniors in Colonie, serving the largest population of seniors in the Capital Region.

Our programs and services offer innovative solutions for seniors and their families to help them enjoy life and stay in the community they know and love. We strive to make all of our programs and services accessible, affordable, and reliable so that you and your loved ones are able to choose what you need, when you need it.

The Center: Through offerings in categories such as Creative Pursuits, Education for Life, Fitness Opportunities, and Travel Experiences, members of our community will have the opportunity to be active in a trusted place.

Bright Horizons: The program provides a safe place for loved ones who are in need of a supportive environment during the day, and respite for their caregivers. Bright Horizons offers families a program that includes companionship, hot meals, exercise, recreation, and socialization.

Umbrella Program: Umbrella of Colonie connects senior homeowners to a wide variety of home maintenance services, allowing them to continue to live safely and independently in their own homes. By utilizing the assets within our own community, we connect senior homeowners with retired handy men and women who help perform simple home repairs at a very reasonable cost.

By-Donation Transportation Program: Transportation Services provided by Colonie Senior Service Centers has enabled elderly and disabled residents of the Town of Colonie to get to medical appointments, the pharmacy, social activities, and other errands affordably and safely. With our fleet of twelve vehicles, thirteen dedicated drivers, we help seniors remain independent and safe at home.

RSVP: CSSC is the Capital Region Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) sponsor. We provide diverse opportunities for volunteers age 55 and over at over 55 RSVP stations (organizations that include hospitals, non-profits, proprietary healthcare organizations) throughout Albany, Rensselaer, and Schenectady counties. We currently have 388 RSVP volunteers who make a difference every day for the organizations they serve.

We also offer defensive driving classes, community lunches (M-F) and dinners, and other community gatherings (socials, holiday celebrations, etc).
