Hello, Neighbor!
Common Pantry is Chicago’s longest-operating food pantry; founded in 1967. It’s Common Pantry’s mission to meet the emergency needs of the local community by providing healthy food, kinship and support to help overcome poverty-related challenges. What a year! Before the pandemic, Common Pantry served 300 households each month. Now services have more than doubled, providing food to an average of 750 households each month and, thanks to the generosity of our community, Common Pantry met the need with strength, resilience and ingenuity.
Common Pantry will celebrate its annual I Am Your Neighbor party at Artifact Events on Friday, October 1 with a blend of live, virtual and online experiences. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the party and highlights an important milestone for Common Pantry – the purchase of a new building to house their many services. The community will unite at this event to raise much needed funds to support Common Pantry and the evening promises to be fun, entertaining and engaging.
We need your help! It takes a neighborhood to procure fantastic items for the Silent and Premium Auctions and donated auction items are essential to the success of the event. As neighbors, Common Pantry volunteers and I Am Your Neighbor committee members, we would like to respectfully request your help. Please consider making an in-kind donation of an Eat, Drink & Play package that will be combined with other donated items from the area to create the ultimate Navy Pier Experience. Your efforts and donation are much needed and will make an enormous contribution towards supporting Common Pantry’s mission and many services.
In an effort to streamline the donation process, you can either complete the online in-kind donation form here or, if easier, simply share the specifics with us and we can finalize the details of your indispensable support. We are happy to speak by phone or pick up the donation, gift certificate or any items needed to finalize your generous contribution.
