The mission of Communities In Schools of Los Angeles (CISLA) is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Since 2007, CISLA has increased access to quality education in Los Angeles’ underserved communities, implementing our Integrated Student Supports Program, a three-tier model that is proven to support students to graduation. Our youth development professionals work inside schools to coordinate schoolwide and community resources (Tier 1), lead targeted group programming (Tier 2), and provide one-on-one case management support to the most vulnerable students (Tier 3). With this anchor program, CISLA has developed Summer and Alumni programs, designed to extend this model beyond the school year and graduation, respectively.

CISLA's core programs reach 12,500+ K-12 students (ages 5 to 18) across 15 Title I schools, targeting 1,200 high-need students with individualized case management. CISLA students are 98% students of color, 95% economically disadvantaged, 26% English Language Learners, 15% in Special Education and 3% Foster Youth.
