Barton County affiliate of CFO provides grants to qualified non-profits, schools, church organizations, community services, etc. Our funds are provided through charitable funds created by donor families, businesses and local organizations within our county. Community Foundation of the Ozarks has 54 affiliate counties. Barton County also hosts one fundraising event annually to enhance our ability to make grants within our area.
Barton County raised approximately $25,000 from our event. With the help of several partners, we presented over $250,000 in grants last year. We also keep an emergency fund to provide unexpected funds for needs such as immediate Covid supplies in 2021, and storm damage to families and businesses in our community through the help of a non-profit group in Golden City.
Organizations apply annually and are vetted as to amount requested, numbers of community members who will benefit, how organization serves the county residents, how a specific project enhances the area. Organizations may apply to receive grant funds every other year. We have helped senior citizen centers, parks and recreation improvements, pre-school supplies, funding to local church to provide Christmas meals to shut-ins.
