Community Health Initiative of Orange County’s (CHIOC) mission is to connect children and families to affordable and quality health care and social services. Launched in 2006 as part of a statewide network of children’s health initiatives, CHIOC has since expanded from serving only children, to entire families and individuals. In 2015, we became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a solid reputation in our community. Due to Orange County’s high cost of living, paired with a slow economic recovery and record high inflation, many families are forced to push healthcare costs down on their priority list, and often unable to dedicate any amount to healthcare. The mission of the Community Health Initiative of Orange County (CHIOC) is to make the healthcare more accessible so residents can live healthy and successful lives.
Reaching close to 9,000 individuals last year, CHIOC staff provides a bridge to healthcare services for individuals who might not otherwise see a doctor outside of emergency circumstances. Our tailored outreach approach helps us engage our clients through strategies that empower people to understand their health care coverage options and understand the process to attain them in a way that fosters informed action.
