Community Ministry Southwest Denver is a local non-profit organization that has been serving our community since 1968 with the support of in-kind and financial donations, grants, and fundraising events. Our mission is to "meet the basic needs of individuals experiencing food insecurities and economic hardships."
In 2023, we served over 57,000 individuals, which was 14,000 more than the year before. The national statistic shows “1 out of 10 children do not have consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life” and “1 out of 11 adults don’t know where their next meal is coming from”. We have also assisted 1329 children with clothes, given out 1675 coats, and provided 442 backpacks with school supplies.
We also assist our community with 300 Thanksgiving and 300 Christmas holiday food boxes and give out over 450 Christmas gifts to children!
We have over 60 dedicated volunteers a week who are the heart of our organization. They assist with the preparation of the pantry, stocking, and sorting, as well as interacting with our clients.
