ConnectiKids Inc. is a nonprofit positive youth development organization that focuses on educating, enriching, and empowering Hartford’s historically underserved youth.The ConnectiKids mission is to "connect students facing systemic inequities and other barriers with people, places and experiences that level the playing field and inspire academic achievement, positive life choices, and big dreams". We fulfill this youth-empowering, equity-advancing mission in partnership with schools, families, and the community. We provide one-on-one academic tutoring, individualized mentoring, arts, and enrichment programs, and community-based learning experiences during the academic year and summer. These connections and opportunities motivate historically underserved kids to embrace high expectations, overcome adversity, and reach their full potential.
ConnectiKids proudly serves Hartford Youth, grades K-12, ages 5-18 annually.The ConnectiKids Tutoring and Mentoring program provides academic and supportive assistance to children. We are aware of how education is a tool that enables young people to enter college, secure jobs, and allow them to break out of cycles of poverty. In these 75–90-minute weekly sessions the mentors work with students to develop and expand reading comprehension and other academic disciplines. These sessions promote the impact a caring person can have in a child’s life and the value of education.
The Arts and Enrichment students can build character by engaging in activities generally unavailable in traditional classrooms. Students can gain new skills and express themselves creatively through cooking, dancing, music, art, drumming, and science experiments. Engaging in art and enrichment activities goes beyond the traditional learning scope. This approach helps students develop reading and writing skills, gain an understanding of the subject, appreciate interdisciplinary connections, and excel academically.
The ConnectiKids Summer programs combine our tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment programs to empower students and provide an exciting, educational, unique, and fun-filled summer. It’s an excellent opportunity for students to hone their abilities during the off months. From learning the basics of cooking to fostering independence, young attendees come away with newfound capabilities and knowledge that will benefit them. By offering these services, ConnectiKids is helping marginalized youth break down the barriers that have been put in place by systemic inequity and create a brighter future for themselves. ConnectiKids believes that young people are the key to making a real difference in our communities. We recognize that youth have the potential to create real change and are actively engaging them in meaningful work. By partnering with local schools and organizations, ConnectiKids is creating opportunities for young people to learn skills, gain experience, and make an impact in their communities.
