Connor's Kindness Project (CKP) is a nonprofit founded during the Covid pandemic, by a 12-year-old from Lynnfield, Connor Wright.  It was a challenging time for a lot of children and Connor wanted to give back and help even in small ways so, along with his grandmother, they started by creating Covid Care Packages filled with activities and trinkets and delivered them to children in their community that were sick or in isolation from Covid.  From there Connor and his grandmother worked on a few other projects including compiling self-care baskets for the healthcare workers at Boston area hospitals, held a clothing and essentials drive to benefit another nonprofit, Catie’s Closet and collaborated with Birthday Wishes to build and delivered 42 “birthday-in-a-box” for children in shelters.  These experiences morphed into ideas about how CKP could execute their own mission.

After brainstorming and researching the “Kindness Kit” was launched and has been well received.   A Kindness Kit is a box of carefully thought out items (selected by Connor himself) and includes a mini Lego set, Bombas socks, Etch A Sketch, Play-Doh, slime, crayons, a coloring book, stickers, a Foldscope, and Pop It.  The kits are delivered to children in hospitals and shelters and are meant to be entertaining, comforting and fun for children in challenging situations. Last year CKP delivered more than 200 kits to well-known organizations: Ronald McDonald House, Tufts Children’s Hospital, Christopher’s Haven, Shiners for Children, and The Home for Little Wanders to name a few.  After rave reviews and some recent press on ABC News (see the attached video) the mission is taking off and CKP plans to deliver more than 1200 kits in 2022.
