Our mission is to improve the quality of life for dogs and cats in our community, find homes for animals in need, and provide support for people who need assistance with care for their animals.
Contra Costa Humane Society (CCHS) is a private, grassroots, 501c (3) organization that operates throughout Contra Costa County in Northern California. We are not affiliated with, nor funded by, any state, county or government agency nor the Humane Society of the United States. We are 100% funded through donations, fundraising and grants.
We intake dogs and cats from our local Municipal shelter (Contra Costa Animal Services) and other rescue groups who cannot care for the animals themselves. Our services include adoptions, fostering of cats/kittens and dogs, supplemental pet food for people in need in our community and spay/neuter assistance through our SNAP program. Additionally, we have free roam cat/kitten space at our Pleasant Hill, CA location and house our senior and special needs cats that are available for adoption at that location as well. Due to limited space, all our adoptable dogs are placed in foster homes and all our neo-natal kittens are placed into foster due to the 24 x 7 care they require.
