Crispus Attucks York (CAY) is a community-founded organization with a 92 year legacy of serving diverse individuals and families in the greater York area and beyond.  Since our founding in 1931 in York City to meet the social and educational needs of African Americans who would not be served elsewhere, we have expanded oru wholistic programs to help ALL people learn, work, and thrive.

Over the past 91 years, Crispus Attucks York has grown from a small non-profit community center working in York City to a multi-block organization serving thousands of low-income individuals and families throughout York County and beyond annually through the following:

●     The Charter School (YouthBuild-affiliated high school diploma program incorporating hands-on job training for youth ages 17-21) served 114 students with 32 achieving graduation and 16 students completed certificates in various fields.

●        Our Early Learning Center (a fully licensed and NAEYC accredited child care facility specializing in quality, education-based services for children, ages 3 months to 12 years of age) served 93 children with 100% of Pre-K students successfully transitioning to Kindergarten.

●      The Housing and Community Development Department provided 119 families and 257 individuals with safe, quality housing in York County.

●          We had 622 visitors to our Goodridge Freedom Center (Authenticated underground Railroad Site and Museum sharing the life of local hero William C. Goodridge), and 433 virtual attendees were served at our AARP sponsored event.  The center is a member of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience, a worldwide network that builds the capacity of vital institutions.

●          The Rising STARS of Crispus Attucks York provided 210 youth with after-school and summer enrichment programs and 100% of the students were promoted to the next grade.

●       Since 1995, The Active Living Center has provided educational, nutritional, social and recreational activities for older adults, ages 60 and above, to maintain their independence and remain engaged in the community.  In 2021, 153 older adults were served by the center, and 100% received meal assistance.

●       The Employment and Training Center provided 341 youth and adults with education, counseling, and job placement services in 2021.  Of the 341 students, 14 youth obtained professional certifications in various fields of study.  And 115 of the total were older adults who received services at the center with 19 older adults obtaining unsubsidized employment.
