Mission Statement

Cristo Rey Sacramento, rooted in the traditions of the Sisters of Mercy and the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) transforms lives by providing a Catholic, college preparatory education and professional work experience to high school students with limited financial resources.

Cristo Rey Sacramento’s vision is to create the most effective and highly regarded high school that transforms underserved students into faith-filled, educated, professional and service oriented people.

Programs and People Served

Cristo Rey High School Sacramento (CRHSS) provides a Catholic, college-preparatory education to students from the Sacramento region. We exclusively educate students who come from families with limited financial means, only accepting those students whose families qualify for government assistance. While the income cap for a family of four is around $64,000 per year, very few families earn that level of income, our average income for a family of five is around $42,000 per year. Ultimately, our goal is to send every one of our graduates to college. Of our 2023 graduating seniors, 100% have been accepted to at least one college or university, with over 80% accepted into a four-year college or university. Our students continue to earn acceptance into some of the country’s most prestigious academic institutions, many with very generous academic and needs based scholarship support. The educational opportunities we provide for low-income youth is unparalleled in the Greater Sacramento region.

This Catholic, college preparatory education is made accessible to students through the CRHSS Work Study program in which students work five days per month in businesses throughout the Sacramento region. The funds paid by the sponsors go directly to CRHSS Work Study, Inc., a 509 (a)3 non-profit to offset the cost of students’ education. Currently over 95 corporations, businesses and non-profit organizations sponsor CRHSS students. As a result of the Work Study program, not only are students able to offset approximately 60% of the cost of their education, but they are able to overcome social and business barriers which could impact their success.
