The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is a national organization with over 70 local chapters. The mission is to cure disease and to provide all people with CF the chance to lead long, fulfilling lives by funding research and drup development, partnering with the CF community, and advancing high quality, specialed care.
CF is caused by a defective gene that causes a buildup of thick mucus in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. Winning this fight means we must work harder and faster. Genetic therapies are our best hope for curing cystic fibrosis. Discovering a genetic therapy could cost 10 times more that a new therapy did 10 years ago. Research funded by the CF Foundation will help treat more than 1,000 diseases caused by this type of genetic mutation.
