DeMeo Teen Club (more commonly known as Chop’s) has been open and serving teens of all backgrounds in our community since October, 2001. Chop’s is a prevention-based organization that is open opposite of school hours to give teens enriching experiences and opportunities when they are not in school. Our mission is to provide a safe, fun and productive place where Sonoma County teens can engage, connect and discover their true potential. Our state of the art 21,000 square foot facility houses a gymnasium, climbing wall, tech lounge, art studio, sound recording studio, café, nightclub, teaching kitchen, college and career hub, and multi-use space. Chop’s is a unique resource in the community because it provides activities and services specifically designed to meet the changing interests and needs of Sonoma County teens, and affords access and opportunities to many teens that would not otherwise have it elsewhere.
As an after-school program that focuses primarily on respect for self and others through developing a sense of belonging, Chop’s provides a safe place for teens to connect with friends and be mentored by staff, as well as participate in activities that appeal to teens. Programs are provided on an interest and free-choice basis, allowing teens to either participate in the daily activities planned by staff or develop their own activity. Additionally, we offer specialized enrichment programs throughout the year that are designed to provide teens with the opportunity to explore a range of interests such as: culinary arts, work-ready, career and college preparation, summer artist series and showcase, and youth leadership and development.  Membership is open to teens in grades 7-12.
