Developmental Education Services (DES) has been providing services to adults with intellectual disabilities and/or Autism in Monroe County for 40 years. In addition to operating two adult day learning centers we recently added a new service, Supportive Employment which helps pair individuals with competitive employment that matches their skills and interests. DES is a valuable resource to many Monroe County residents and a helpful agency to our community partners including Meals on Wheels, Valor, AWSOM, and many more. Most of our program participants are adult children living at home with their parents. A majority of these parents are of working age and rely on DES to ensure the safety of their loved ones while they work.
Part of what makes DES so successful is the dedicate employees. 55% of our employees have worked for DES for more than 5 years and 20% have been with the agency for over 20 years. DES is fortunate to have such a low employee turnover rate in a high turnover rate industry and at a time when agencies are faced with staffing shortages.
